The Church of Scientology Nashville is hosting a special interfaith service in observance of World Interfaith Harmony Week with a multi-religious group.

Brian Fesler, Pastor of the Church of Scientology, who has called together people of many different faiths and cultures to take part in an interfaith service for World Interfaith Harmony Week, the first week each February.

Early diagnosis and treatment can help prevent the condition from worsening and make it easier to manage your symptoms.

Dr. Abraham stated that one of the early warning signs of neuropathy is the gradual onset of numbness, prickling, burning or tingling in your feet or hands, which can spread upward into your legs and arms. Weakness, muscle cramps and twitches, and loss of coordination often follow this. Another early sign of neuropathy is extreme sensitivity to touch. This can cause pain, numbness, or tingling in the affected area. In some cases, people with neuropathy may lose feeling in their hands or feet.  People can also experience pain during activities that aren’t usually painful, such as putting weight on their feet or having them under a blanket. This is because the nerves are damaged and are unable to send signals properly. They may experience numbness, tingling, and muscle weakness as the condition progresses. Neuropathy can also cause problems with digestion and urination. When the nerves that control these functions are damaged, they may not work properly. This can lead to constipation, diarrhea, incontinence, and other issues. In some cases, neuropathy may also cause pain or burning sensations. 

According to Dr. Abraham, the causes of neuropathy are varied. One common cause is diabetes, which can damage the nerves over time. Diabetes is a condition that affects the body’s ability to produce or use insulin, a hormone that helps regulate blood sugar levels. When blood sugar levels are too high, it can damage nerves and cause neuropathy or nerve damage. He added that diabetes-related neuropathy could affect any type of nerve, but it most commonly occurs in the feet and hands. Symptoms of neuropathy include numbness, tingling, pain, and weakness. In severe cases, neuropathy can lead to ulcers, infections, and amputation. While there is no cure for diabetes-related neuropathy, early diagnosis and treatment can help prevent or delay the condition’s progression. There are also numerous ways of treating neuropathy symptoms without medications if caught early. Other causes include certain medications, alcohol abuse, chemotherapy, radiation, vitamin deficiencies, and certain medical conditions such as cancer or kidney disease. In some cases, the exact cause of neuropathy is unknown. 

Dr. Abraham also highlighted several treatment options for neuropathy, depending on the underlying cause. For example, if the condition is caused by diabetes, keeping blood sugar levels under control can help to improve symptoms. Physical therapy may be recommended to help the nerves heal if neuropathy results from an injury or if balance has been affected. Medication may sometimes be prescribed to relieve pain or reduce inflammation. Additionally, several lifestyle changes can help to improve neuropathy symptoms. For instance, quitting smoking and maintaining a healthy weight can help prevent or slow the condition’s progression. Furthermore, exercises that improve circulation and increase muscle strength can also be beneficial. Ultimately, the best course of treatment for neuropathy will be determined by a doctor. There are also certain modalities that may help with reducing neuropathy symptoms like low level light therapy, electrotherapy, shockwave therapy, exercise under oxygen, hyperbaric oxygen therapy and much more.

People with diabetes are at the highest risk for neuropathy, a type of nerve damage, said Dr. Abraham. According to the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke, up to 50 percent of people with diabetes will develop some form of neuropathy. Other high-risk groups include people with HIV/AIDS, those undergoing cancer treatment, and those who have had traumatic injuries. Symptoms of neuropathy can vary depending on the type of nerve damage. Common symptoms include numbness, tingling, and pain in the hands or feet. In severe cases, neuropathy can lead to paralysis or organ damage. Early diagnosis and treatment are essential for preventing irreversible nerve damage.
