  • World Bank: Boosting Productivity Could Add Two Million Jobs and Raise GDP Across Europe and Central Asia

Strengthening productivity could accelerate economic growth and generate nearly two million new jobs across Europe and Central Asia, according to a new World Bank report released on Nov. 24.

The study urges countries in the region to focus on using existing economic assets more efficiently and investing in the capabilities of their firms and workforce to unlock faster and more resilient growth.

The report underscores that while expanding capital and labor inputs is important, it is  productivity that ultimately drives economic performance. The World Bank notes that the region’s economic slowdown since the global financial crisis has been driven almost entirely by weakening productivity, a trend linked to slowed reforms, persistent market distortions and incomplete integration into global markets.

According to the analysis, a 10% rise in productivity would generate additional jobs, demonstrating the strong link between firm efficiency and employment growth.

The World Bank highlights that exporters in the region are among the most productive firms, contributing disproportionately to investment, employment and value added, despite representing only a small share of all businesses. Yet European and Central Asian countries trade about 45% less than their potential, revealing substantial room to benefit from deeper global integration and more effective participation in value chains.

The report notes that the ongoing restructuring of multinational supply chains offers a strategic opportunity. Countries stand to gain from nearshoring trends, but only if they undertake meaningful reforms to improve the business environment, enhance digitalization, boost skills and strengthen firms’ ability to absorb new technologies.

“When competition is robust, when firms can access technology and finance, when trade and investment is open, and when workers have the skills to adopt technologies and adapt, productivity rises. Firms grow, employ more people, and show greater business dynamism. This propels the growth of incomes and the success of countries,” said Asad Alam, regional director for Europe and Central Asia, Prosperity at the World Bank.

The report incorporates more than 40 million firm-level data points from national statistical offices, tax authorities and other sources across 16 countries covering 2008–2023 period.

The findings also emphasize the crucial role of governments in creating conditions for productivity growth. This includes incorporating productivity goals into national strategies, ensuring fair market competition, strengthening transparency in procurement and monitoring progress on reforms.

According to the World Bank, a renewed push across five key areas such as trade, investment, digitalization, efficiency and skills could help the countries regain momentum and reshape their economic future.

  • Kazakhstan Gains Seat in IAEA’s Far East Regional Group

Kazakhstan’s Foreign Ministry welcomed the decision announced on Nov. 21 at a meeting of the International Atomic Energy Agency’s Board of Governors to admit Kazakhstan to the agency’s Far East Regional Group.

In its Nov. 21 statement, the Kazakh ministry said the country’s accession to the regional group reflects an “important step toward restoring sovereign equality of member states within the IAEA.”

“It also reaffirms Astana’s commitment to promoting peace and global security, as well as to strengthening the nuclear disarmament and non-proliferation regime,” the ministry said.

Being part of the group allows Kazakhstan to fully participate in the work of the IAEA’s governing bodies.

“As an active promoter of international efforts aimed at building a world free from the threats of weapons of mass destruction, Kazakhstan stands ready to continue making a constructive contribution to the advancement of the peaceful uses of nuclear energy, the responsible application of nuclear technologies, and the strengthening of international mechanisms of confidence and transparency,” the ministry said.

At home, Kazakhstan is building its first nuclear power plant. It has also announced plans for the second and third nuclear power plants.

Kazakhstan is among the many countries promoting the peaceful use of nuclear energy. Addressing the IAEA board of governors on Nov. 19, Director General Rafael Mariano Grossi highlighted the “growing global momentum behind nuclear.” Across 31 countries, 416 nuclear reactors with more than 376 gigawatts of capacity generate nearly 10% of the world’s electricity.

“The need for nuclear energy is no longer a topic of debate. The world agrees that we must invest in more nuclear capacity. Many countries are looking to nuclear for energy security and to meet their social, economic and environmental goals,” said Grossi.

“Today, 63 reactors totalling nearly 20 gigawatts of installed capacity are under construction in 15 countries, three of which are newcomers to nuclear power,” he added.

  • UNICEF: Kazakhstan Could Boost GDP by 14% Through Investments in Children

Kazakhstan could boost its GDP by up to 14% by 2050 through stronger investment in children’s education, health, and social well-being, according to a new UNICEF regional report Generation 2050: Central Asia, presented in Almaty on Nov. 26.

The analysis highlights that Kazakhstan’s favorable demographic structure with a dependency ratio of 62 non-working individuals per 100 working adults provides a unique opportunity to accelerate long-term economic growth.

UNICEF experts note that a large and growing youth population positions the country to build a highly competitive next-generation economy.

Education quality and opportunity for growth

According to the report, improving the quality of education is among the most effective strategies for increasing human capital. Despite high enrollment rates, the PISA-2022 assessment found that only 36% of Kazakh 15-year-olds reached the basic reading proficiency level.

The report recommends prioritizing improvements in learning outcomes, expanding access to early childhood education and further investing in teacher development. These measures, experts note, would significantly enhance the long-term economic contribution of future generations.

    Strong labor market

Kazakhstan’s labor market indicators remain stable. Official unemployment stands at 3.8%, one of the lowest in Central Asia, and the proportion of young people not in education, employment, or training is 6.5%.

UNICEF notes that expanding youth employment programs, entrepreneurship opportunities, and innovation-focused skills training will enable Kazakhstan to leverage its demographic strengths even more effectively.

Health system and areas for improvement

Kazakhstan continues to maintain low levels of maternal and child mortality, placing the country among the regional leaders. However, UNICEF stresses the need to strengthen primary health care quality, particularly in the area of child nutrition.

Rates of stunting (8%) and wasting (3.1%) require additional attention amid evolving climate and social challenges.

    Strategy for national growth

According to the UNICEF Representative in Kazakhstan Rashed Mustafa Sarwar, Kazakhstan has significant opportunities to strengthen its human capital.

“The progress provides a solid foundation, and further steps will help fully unlock the country’s demographic potential. Strategic investments in children are not only social policy — they are a powerful driver of sustainable economic growth,” he said.

UNICEF reaffirmed its readiness to support Kazakhstan in implementing the Children of Kazakhstan 2026–2030 national program and to deepen regional cooperation in Central Asia on innovative solutions for child and youth development.

  • Moorbridge Cyber Security Cracks Major Crypto Theft Case Leveraging Advanced PT and Threat Isolation Tools to Recover Stolen Assets

In a breakthrough that underscores the escalating battle between cybercriminals and modern digital defenders, Moorbridge Cyber Security headquartered at Newstead House, Pelham Road, Nottingham, UK has successfully recovered a large amount of stolen cryptocurrency for a private firm, marking one of the year’s most impressive crypto theft turnarounds.

The case began when the victim company discovered that a hacker had infiltrated its digital wallet infrastructure and siphoned off a substantial sum of cryptocurrency. The attacker attempted to cover their tracks by routing the stolen assets through a maze of blockchain addresses, a tactic that in many situations leaves victims with little chance of recovery.

However, the company’s decision to bring in Moorbridge Cyber Security shifted the course of the investigation entirely.

High Velocity Investigation Powered by PT and AI Driven Threat Isolation

Upon receiving the case, Moorbridge deployed a combination of its elite Penetration Testing PT intelligence, Server Defence systems, and Threat Isolation AI tools. These technologies allowed investigators to retrace the attacker’s movements, identify exploited vulnerabilities, and track the stolen funds across several blockchain networks.

“Blockchain is far more transparent than criminals assume,” a Moorbridge analyst noted. “When you combine live PT diagnostics with real time threat isolation AI, every movement leaves a trail.”

The company’s Server Defence division also secured the compromised infrastructure, preventing further unauthorized access while the recovery operation was underway.

DRaaS Ensures Business Continuity Throughout the Crisis

To stabilize the affected company’s operations during the investigation, Moorbridge initiated its Disaster Recovery as a Service DRaaS framework. This enabled the client to restore affected systems, re establish secure access points, and maintain operational continuity while forensic work was carried out.

This layered strategy ensured both business stability and precise investigative conditions, forming a crucial part of the recovery success.

A Major Win in an Expanding Digital Arms Race

The operation led to the recovery of a significant portion of the stolen cryptocurrency, an achievement that stands out in a landscape where stolen digital assets often vanish permanently.

This success strengthens Moorbridge’s reputation as a leading authority in crypto asset recovery, cyber forensics, advanced server defense, and blockchain security across the United Kingdom and beyond.

As cyber threats grow more sophisticated and digital assets increase in value, analysts highlight the pressing need for businesses to adopt advanced PT practices, hardened server setups, AI powered threat isolation, and dependable disaster recovery systems.

Reinforcing the Future of Digital Protection

Moorbridge Cyber Security has indicated plans to expand its investigative and recovery technologies, including new AI enhanced forensic engines and more advanced DRaaS capabilities for large scale enterprise environments.

With digital finance becoming a core part of modern business operations, Moorbridge’s latest achievement serves as a strong reminder that cybercriminals may be evolving, but so are the defenders committed to stopping them.

  • Kazakh Diplomas to Be Recognized in China, Japan, South Korea

Kazakh university diplomas will be recognized in China, Japan, South Korea and other Asia-Pacific nations, following the Nov.19 Mazhilis (lower chamber of Parliament) ratification of the UNESCO Asia-Pacific Regional Convention on the Recognition of Qualifications in Higher Education, adopted in Tokyo in 2011.

The move is expected to significantly expand academic and professional mobility for Kazakh graduates across one of the world’s most dynamic regions.

The convention aims to simplify procedures for recognizing university degrees, diplomas and other qualifications, ensuring transparency and fairness in their evaluation. Under the agreement, participating states commit to recognizing qualifications from other member countries, unless substantial differences exist between educational programs.

A key requirement of the convention is the establishment of national information centers in each member state. These centers will provide verified data on higher education systems, accredited institutions and qualification standards, facilitating smoother cooperation and trust among countries.

At the same time, Kazakhstan entered reservations to several provisions, particularly those related to the recognition of qualifications obtained through non-traditional learning models or incomplete academic programs, citing national education standards.

With Kazakhstan’s accession, the Tokyo Convention now includes 12 member states such as  Afghanistan, Armenia, Australia, China, Fiji, the Holy See, Japan, Mongolia, New Zealand, South Korea, Russia and Türkiye.
