The couple had also hired pet sitters in all the places they have lived around the world, so have learned what works and what doesn’t from a client’s perspective.

In a traditional hip replacement surgery, surgeons are required to damage the abductor complex, gemelli, obturator internus, and piriformis tendons, which can increase the client’s recovery times and pain during the recovery process. Using the new SPAIRE procedure, Prof. Lee can perform a complete hip replacement surgery, while sparing these muscles and tendons from damage.

With this method, clients are able to use their full range of motion, with no mobility restrictions after their operation. The new technique also reduces the risk of dislocations during the recovery process, so that there is less chance of causing additional injuries while clients are healing.

A spokesperson for the clinic explained, “Research has shown that the quadriceps coxae is not just an external rotator and is the primary abductor and extensor for the hip joint in a 90 flexed position, which means it has a major effect on one-legged and weight-bearing rising and propulsive motions.”
