New Hyde Park, NY – The Law Office of Cohen & Jaffe, LLP maintains connections with communities where it offers legal services to personal injury victims and others in need. The attorneys and staff strive to serve communities through volunteer work in various organizations. While they focus on addressing legal concerns and advocating for clients’ rights, they also devote their efforts and time to the underprivileged and those who need medical support.

“Community service represents a critical aspect of our firm. We want to help today’s young volunteers to succeed in their academic and professional pursuits. When they venture into their careers, they will, in a way, be continuing our legacy.” – Richard Jaffe, Founding Partner.

Annually, Cohen & Jaffe offers its Community Volunteer Scholarship to a deserving student. Applicants desiring consideration for the scholarship must write a 750-word essay on the topic below.

The lesson we take from obstacles we encounter can be fundamental to later success. Recount a time when you faced a challenge, setback, or failure. How did it affect you, and what did you learn from the experience?

Students can cite anecdotal stories or reference any volunteer projects they initiated to meet the essay’s requirement. Once completed, they must save their work as a Microsoft Word document before attaching it to the 2023 Community Volunteer Scholarship application form on the law firm’s page by June 16, 2023. The winner of the scholarship will receive $2,500 to further their education.

To be eligible for the scholarship, a student must have a GPA of 2.5, which applies to students already in college when applying, and must be enrolled/admitted to an accredited graduate school, college, or university. They must also provide proof of enrollment and a college/high school transcript. With this information, they can write/submit the essay, agree to the scholarship’s terms/conditions, and complete/submit the form. The law firm encourages all community-driven students with the eligibility criteria to apply for the scholarship and looks forward to reviewing all applications.
