Acorn Acres Wildlife Rehabilitation’s ambassador groundhog, Poppy the Groundhog, along with some assistance from her little brother Elliott the Groundhog is partnering with 10 downtown businesses to bring a fun, community driven spin to one of Pennsylvania’s most popular holidays, Groundhog Day!

Our event launches at Hempfield Apothetique at 10am with the official prognostication at 11am. Each participating business is preparing a Poppy-esque product or activity. The event schedule is:

Our Town Brewery will be launching “Looking Within” a petite IPA brewed in connection with this event in late January.

Lemon Street Market has selected Acorn Acres as their #GiveLocal register round up for January and February.

Some businesses have generously offered to donate a portion of the proceeds to Acorn Acres Wildlife Rehabilitation, non-profit wildlife rehabilitation facility in Millersville, PA specializing in squirrels, cottontails, and groundhogs.

Poppy and Elliott are fully permitted (PA Game Commission and USDA) educational ambassador at Acorn Acres Wildlife Rehabilitation. Poppy is a Lancaster County native and is almost 4 years old, Elliott is from Berks County and is 10 months old. This is Poppy’s 4th Groundhog Day and Elliott’s first. The prognostication will be streamed live on Facebook @AcornAcresWR.
