    Gbike (CEO Jongsu Yoon), which operates the PM(Personal Mobility) sharing service platform ‘GCOO’, announced on Feb 28th that it has secured pre-series C investment from Link Asset Management and Mirae Asset Securities, and signed an IPO underwriter contract with Mirae Asset Securities.

     

    During the investment round, which lasted about three months from December, Gbike succeeded in attracting investment from Link Asset Management, the first Korean investor of SpaceX in 2017, and Mirae Asset Securities. On February 27th, Gbike also signed a contract with Mirae Asset Securities for an initial public offering (IPO) on the KOSDAQ market, aiming to go public in early 2025.

     

    Gbike is currently the No. 1 company in the personal mobility sharing industry and has been ranked No. 1 in revenue in Asia since 2021. It succeeded in manufacturing shared PMs domestically for the first time in the industry and has been recording remarkable growth by optimizing its nationwide operations.

     

    According to Gbike, the company has been able to scale up its business by leading a growth in revenue, achieving a 60% increase in revenue and 38 times increase in net profit compared to the previous year, with KRW 53 billion(USD 44m) revenue in 2022.     Earlier this year, Gbike rebranded its PM sharing service from Gcooter to GCOO as part of its global expansion. Gbike has been accelerating its overseas launches in addition to the domestic market, starting with its entry into Los Angeles and Thailand last year. In addition, the service will be available in Guam and Vietnam from April this year. Considering that about 95% of its revenue was from domestic PM sharing services, the company’s revenue growth is expected to be even higher in the future.

    The association’s new training program helps individuals interested in getting a head start on their careers in youth leadership and chaplaincy. According to the NSCA, the demand for chaplains is increasing because schools are seeing the value of bringing prayer and hope back into the academe.

    Statistics show that schools with a chaplain in residency have lower incidents of violence, bullying, and disrespect for authority. The students also do better academically and report feeling safer at school.

    There are three levels of compliance, and applicants will be grouped according to their credentials and work experience. Level 1 is for ordained ministers and teachers who need little training but require assistance with placement and re-certification. Level 2 is for applicants with experience teaching or working with youth groups for at least one year. The last level is suitable for those with no work experience.

    Those who fall under Level 2 may enroll in a 48-hour course spread across eight weeks, with six hours of classes every week. It is accredited by Oklahoma Christian University and counts as one college credit or three CEU credits. Meanwhile, those with no experience whatsoever will be required to undergo a one-year course that is equivalent to one year of college credits. It combines theoretical and hands-on classes that prepare the candidate to set up their ministry.

    Regardless of compliance level, all candidates will be subjected to the same background check. The NSCA also requires all candidates to complete active shooter training from third-party providers before getting their chaplaincy credentials.

According to studies by professors at California State University, children and teenagers with a strong religious or spiritual foundation are better equipped emotionally and psychologically to overcome bullying, body shaming, and peer pressure. They are also less likely to express their frustration through destructive methods like violence, disrespect toward authority figures, and poor academic performance.

    The NSCA encourages more people to consider chaplaincy, especially if they are already seeking a career path involving service and youth leadership. Being a chaplain allows individuals to connect to the youth at a deeper, more spiritual level than other faculty members.

    Aside from the personal fulfillment that chaplains get from this vocation, it is also something that they can pursue without sacrificing their college plans. While other training programs require participants to take a gap year, the NSCA’s chaplaincy training program can be completed while the candidate is in college. It can also count as a one-year college credit, depending on the type of training program they will undergo.

    The NSCA has three training levels, each with its requirements and benefits.

    Level 1 is for ordained ministers who need little training but need assistance with placement or re-certification.

    The second level is a 48-hour course recommended for those with experience teaching or working with youth groups. This course is spread out across eight weeks, with six hours per week on average. It is equivalent to one college credit or three CEU credits.

    The last level is a one-year course for high school graduates without work experience. The course is equal to one year of college credit, which can be used toward a bachelor’s or associate’s degree.

    “Chaplains provide students with the spiritual care they need to overcome tragedies and hardships to fulfill their dreams and destiny. Follow the call to help teachers and students,” a representative said.
