Monrovia, Montserrado Dec 19, 2022 (Issuewire.com) – KDE Disability Africa Foundation graduated 16 persons under its KDE Vocational Training Programme in tailoring, fashion designing, and Information & Communication Technology (ICT) in Liberia.

The graduates which included 11 women living with physical disabilities received their certificate of completion and honor in grand style on November 19, 2022.

The Guest Speaker, Leona Swaray – Project Coordinator, Mental Health Program, The Carver Center, embraced women’s empowerment and encouraged the students to utilize their skills for the betterment of themselves and family.

The President of KDE Disability Africa Foundation, Kimma Wreh, while delivering her remarks charged the celebrants, “Never to give up,” and brace up in the pursuit of their respective higher educations.

Wreh, who flew from Houston Texas, United States also reminded them to always remember where they come from and imbibe the spirit of giving back to society, most especially, to the less privileged.

In a Recent TikTok, former HRT Operator, Rhonda Kirschmann stated that the first time she experienced an adverse employment action for adhering to Safety Policy was in 2012 and she’s been advocating for Safe Public Transit for a decade.

“When Public Transit isn’t safe for Transit Operator’s, it’s not safe for anyone”

Ms. Kirschmann filed a Whistleblower case with OSHA in 2017. The case stalled for 4 years, then didn’t result in a resolution. Ms. Kirschmann appealed to the ALJ, which also didn’t result in a resolution. Now finally, Ms. Kirschmann takes her Whistleblower Case to the Administrative Review Board, pro se. (ARB Case # EFS-ARB-2210-234368).

Ms. Kirschmann began working as a transit operator in April 2008. The first 4 years were uneventful until November 19, 2012, while departing Cedar Grove Parking Lot as route 20, she turned out of Cedar Grove Parking Lot onto Princess Ann Road. A woman walking up Princess Anne Road tried to hail the bus like a cab. The woman’s location was not merely an unauthorized stop location, it was a prohibited stop location. If Ms. Kirschmann had made the passenger stop, she could have been written up for violating safety policy, could have caused a bus-car collision or even a bus-bus collision, and been fired. Ms. Kirschmann did not make the prohibited stop, but the woman was able to call the “routing scheduling and information hotline,” and make a complaint giving false information that her location was up on the parking lot at the approved stop which resulted in Ms. Kirschmann being written up for adhering to safety policy. When Ms. Kirschmann advised the management of the woman’s factual location, rather than resolving the issue, it led to a hurricane of adverse employment actions.

That first adverse action for following safety policy was followed by more adverse actions for following safety policies. Twice Ms. Kirschmann adhered to her safety training to secure the bus before taking a personal break. One time, Ms. Kirschmann adhered to a Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration Restriction. When HRT passengers didn’t like Public Transit Industry Safety and Security protocols and even FMCSA restrictions, they complained and Ms. Kirschmann faced adverse actions. Ultimately, the last adverse action Ms. Kirschmann experienced for following safety protocols was termination on February 13, 2017.
